# Distraction Detection

Every second a driver’s attention shifts away from the road, the risk of collision increases. Neonode’s camera-based driver distraction software is engineered to keep drivers focused.

Neonode’s driver monitoring software, built upon the sophisticated MultiSensing® platform, incorporates advanced features to alert drivers when their focus drifts from the driving task. The software is designed to ensure regulatory compliance with driver distraction and drowsiness standards as well as meet the stringent requirements set forth by testing institutions such as [IIHS](https://www.iihs.org/research-areas/advanced-driver-assistance) and [Euro NCAP](https://www.euroncap.com/en/car-safety/the-ratings-explained/safety-assist/occupant-status-monitoring/).

### Long Distraction

 Recognizes when the driver continuously looks away from the forward direction to one consistent location for more than 3 seconds.

 Detection of VATS (Visual Attention Time Sharing), which is repeated quick glances away that build up over time.

 Identifies frequent glances toward unexpected areas within defined zones that indicate phone interaction.
